Abstract:  "Remaking Society" is a synthesis of Bookchins' other writings on social ecology. His major theme is that society and ecology can exist in harmony He speaks to the philosophy of community, history, hierarchy and the decline of modern society. His book is also a refutation of the "deep ecologists" who believe that man is responsible for the ecological crisis and that we should step back and let nature take its course (they see third World starvation as a natural phenomena.). Domination by either humans or nature is no longer feasible.
