The bulk of this publication consists of a 108-page Report to the Ninth National Congress of the Communist Party of China by Party Vice-Chairman Lin Piao, "Chairman Mao's close comrade-in-arms." Four press communiques and the constitution of the party comprise the rest of little red book. Two years after this congress, Lin died in a mysterious plane crash, and it was announced that he had been a counter-revolutionary traitor.
