Abstract: This program shows the first mass demonstration against unemployment and hunger in Union Square, New York City on March 6, 1930. Hundreds were injured when the crowd of approximately 100,000 was rushed by police. Police brutality was a regular occurence at social protests during the 1930's and the WFPL sought to enlighten the public about the conditions faced by protesters.
