12 map points to help the NDP to find its moral compass (and for that matter, the Liberals, too)
Voters for Gaza: We Expect Better from the NDP!

We believe silence is complicity, and think it is time for the NDP to find its moral compass and to end the deafening silence about Israel and the war crimes it is committing. The NDP, of all federal political parties, must speak out against the violence and rising civilian death toll in Gaza. We expect better from a party claiming a tradition of social justice, human rights and strong relationships to social movements.

Abstract:
-

As voters who believe in human rights for all, we believe that in order for the NDP, as the Official Opposition, to find its moral compass they need to:

1. Demand that Israel immediately stop its attack on Gaza;

2. Condemn Israeli war crimes and responsibility for deaths in Gaza;

3. Call for an end to Israel’s illegal blockade of Gaza;

4. Support the call of the UN Human Rights Council for an independent investigation into war crimes against the people of Gaza;

5. Support the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination;

6. Call for the release of Palestinian political prisoners, illegally detained in Israeli jails;

7. Support the right of return for Palestinian refugees to their homes and lands, as per UN Resolution 194;

8. Demand an end to Israeli Occupation of Arab Lands and the dismantling of Illegal settlements;

9. Call for the removal of Israel’s Ambassador in Canada;

10. Support the global Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel until it complies with international law;

11. Call for an arms embargo of Israel; and,

12. Call for the withdrawal of Canada-Israel bilateral trade and security agreements.

At a minimum, the NDP needs to align its current position with international law and its own policy.
