Thunder Rock, written in Nantucket, was first produced on November 14, 1939, at the Mansfield Theatre, New York. It was directed by Elia Kazan and starred Luther Adler, Lee J. Cobb, and Morris Carnovsky. Surprisingly enough it was not well received and ran for only 23 performances.
