While Jan van Aken, the chairman of the German Left Party, initially responded to the illegal attack by the U.S. and Israel on Iran with what appeared to be condemnation, this criticism is merely a political cover for the Left Party aligning itself with the strategic aims of the imperialist war. Article author Johannes Stern argues that a genuine struggle against war requires a political break with all parties of imperialism, including the Left Party, and must base itself on the international working class and conscious opposition to capitalism.
