Abstract:  This handbook was prepared by the Public Legal Education Project (phase IV), a student program funded and sponsored by the Federal Department of Justice and the Newfoundland Legal Aid Commission, its purpose is to inform inmates of their rights and obligations while in prison, what to do if they feel these rights are not respected, and to whom they should go if they need help. Written in question and (short) answer format, the booklet deals with the following topics: appeals, rights and obligations while in prison, and parole. Most of the information it contains is applicable to other provinces as well as Newfoundland.
