Abstract: With Our Own Hands is subtitled Research for Third World Development: Canada's contribution through the International Development Research Centre, 1970-1985. Two of the essays in this collection are overview articles, on the role of research in Third World development, and on the partnership between the IDRC and Third World researchers. Ten articles are particular case studies, dealing with, for example, animal production systems in Central America, rural sanitation in Sierra Leone, rural aquaculture in India, oral rehydration therapy in the Phillipines, and fuelwood and polewood in Malawi.
