Abstract:  April 28 is set aside as a Day of Mourning for Canadian workers who are killed, injured, or disabled at work. More than 1,000 Canadian workers are killed on the job each year, and many more suffer injuries or illnesses due to work. The Day of Mourning is also intended as a day to renew pressure for tougher occupational health and safety standards.
