    Published: 2012
Employers increasingly use part-time scheduling to decrease costs and crush attempts at worker organizing. Scheduling software now cuts shifts into chunks as small as 15-minutes. Last-minute schedule changes result when the software predicts customer traffic based on the weather forecast or recent sales patterns. Erratic scheduling can also make it impossible for parttime workers to hold two jobs, because they never know when they will be available.
